DoD, VA Hold National Mental Health Summit

Posted by: Communications, DCoE

Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki will host the DoD/VA Mental Health Summit to discuss a public health model for enhanced mental health care for returning service members, veterans and their families at the Capital Hilton, 1001 16th St., N.W., Washington, D.C., on Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. EDT.

The first of its kind summit will feature mental health experts from both departments, from other cabinet agencies and non-governmental organizations to discuss a treatment model where veterans and their families are the primary focus, with other services extending from care for returning service members, into their communities and throughout the nation.

Journalists interested in attending these events should arrive 45 minutes prior to the event and provide proof of affiliation. For additional information, please call Cynthia O. Smith, DoD Public Affairs at (703) 697-5135 or Katie Roberts, VA Press Secretary, at (202) 461-7600.
